y’all just better hope Stewie & JJ both can stay healthy. now the perimeter depth is there but the post depth is not – a bit of a reversal from last year.

Nice, I’m hoping for a center and backup ‘true’ lead guard, ideally who can handle the rock and play defense. Kitley at #11 (I like her midrange game and size), wouldn’t mind Ayoka Lee there either. Muhl at #17? Sign D-Rob or Sims if we can afford them? Or roll with Sloot/Sab/Ivana as lead guards, plus Laney and Stewie in a pinch lol
French 16 games: 15.3ppg, just under two 3pt at 34.4%, 92.9% FT, 5.6rpg, 3.2apg, 2.8spg, .5bpg, 1.5TOpg Euro 14 games: 15.6ppg, just under two 3pt at 32.5%, 68.3% FT, 6rpg, 2.5apg, 3.2spg, .5bpg, 1.8TOpg
Be kind to yourself, the way you expect others to be kind to you.
i guess Burke will just leave her French team early? never considered she’d come back to the league in spite of that, but regardless, i agree that she’s a solid pickup for this team.
if the Liberty can turn their #11 pick into a backup post player though, to me that would be the most ideal.

which is why i think they take a post at #11 now instead of a guard. Especially if Johannes is penciled in to come over after the Olympics. Would love Taiyanna Jackson at that pick.

Yes, her team also announced today that they are letting her leave at the end of the regular season. I conceptually understand doing a player and possibly an agency a favor, but it is still absolutely wild that the team that currently sits in first place in France would let their best player leave before the playoffs even if they are able to find a decent player as a replacement. It definitely explains why the Liberty had to give her a fully protected contract though as it is certainly possible that this hurts her international reputation in the future.
which is precisely why they should try to trade it while it’s still in pick form. package it along with the rights to someone else – plenty of international players' rights to choose from. Brianna Turner herself would be a good bench addition.
picking a post player #11 overall in the draft and her making the roster will not necessarily lead to the team having adequate post depth if it turns out that that player isn’t ready to contribute at this level. this contention-level roster needs as many ready contributors as it can get.
why would Stewart take a pay cut and a non-protected deal then?
i think you’re misunderstanding me, so let me clarify. i don’t disagree that signing a sixth guaranteed player is probably gonna happen. i was just wondering if this was a rumor that was actually floating out there, something that would signal that a coming move was more imminent rather than just speculative. i think Stewie agreed to this to keep the team’s options open, but unless we hear more, it may not necessarily result in the acquisition of a sixth guaranteed player if there aren’t already plans for it in the works.
I was just going by what Richard Cohen and Jackie Powell tweeted out saying that's probably why Stewart took less than the max.
gotcha, that answers my question.
so i think my cap math ended up being wrong. the Liberty really can’t trade for a vet priced in the salary midrange (basically anything above $100k); don’t know why i thought they could without Stewie & JJ taking drastic paycuts, which they overall did not. looks like the team will roll with 11, filling out the roster with the cheapest possible bench unit, then officially sign Johannès sometime after the Olympics once they can presumably afford a 12th player.
so then, what kind of post player could the Liberty trade the #11 Pick for? my new options:
—Queen Egbo, assuming Washington indeed signs Stef Dolson —Olivia Nelson-Ododa, as Connecticut’s signing of Astou Ndour seemed to put a little bit of heat on ONO’s roster spot —Temi Fagbenle, in which Indiana would probably have to attach an asset to her (2RP or 3RP) —Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (what applied to Fagbenle would apply here as well)
