ooh, Curry’s theoretically a big loss. though it could also be such that Cal will get better as a direct result of her leaving, since she was starting to become one of ‘those’ ball-dominant star players imo. she was much more lowkey this season than she was last season.
UW was one of her final schools, but i kinda hope we don’t end up with her after all…
no, this is who i’d want for my team

I dunno, I find it hard to judge good players who are forced to do a lot on bad teams (especially offensively). It's a thankless task and your numbers rarely look good. I think Curry will do better on a team that has more talent around her and hope she can find a situation to her liking.
Curry’s finalists besides Cal (and Washington) were Arizona State, Utah, and San Diego State. ASU & Utah are secure at the guard spots as of now. i doubt Curry would go down to a G5 school – even as SDSU is on track to graduate from the Mountain West sooner rather than later. and UW’s already bringing in a PG next year – the highest-ever Alaska prospect (even higher than Pac-12 POY Alissa Pili, incidentally).
i can see Curry going to USC and being the Robin to Juju Watkins' Batman next year, as the Trojans' starting lead guard Destiny Littleton (who was formerly at the other USC on the Atlantic) is set to run out of eligibility at the end of the current season.
i could also see Curry helping to resupply the thin roster corps at Oregon particularly if Endyia Rogers turns pro, which remains possible.
This made me chuckle. The bible verse is what gets me, usually. Sorry, your religious texts have absolutely nothing to do with your transfer lol. The same goes for quoting God in transfer announcements.
Curry's loss would hurt Cal tremendously but since they just bought out their horrid men's coach -- and their AD's IQ hovers around room temperature -- Charmin Smith is safe for next year, and perhaps the year after as well.
Curry's pro career -- likely in Europe -- would probably get a huge boost if she's on a team where there are other scoring threats. And of course it never hurts to play in postseason, which is highly unlikely at Cal.
Curry will have to transfer to a school that’s willing to develop her more as a PG for her W prospects to start looking up. i do think USC would be an obvious possibility since there appears to be an opening in that slot next season. one aspect that Curry did improve this season from her frosh season was her ATO, so imo it’s not too late.
ooooh what’s the drama in Tucson? 👀 there were gonna be opportunities next year for returners with the departures of Reese and Pellington anyway. Conner transferring is particularly notable, since she had the biggest role off the bench out of the four this season (Ware was out with a knee injury the whole season) and is herself from Arizona…

Adia Barnes, like Jeff Walz and Brenda Frese, seems to be happy to run players in and out. It's hard to say if the players are leaving on bad terms, or if it's mutually agreed that it's time to move on.
It's an interesting strategy, though, and seems to be successful. And with NIL money floating around, it makes sense for everyone to just treat these moves as business decisions.
The transfer portal has to be hard on coaches, but is hardest on the fans. Coaches have to be caught by surprise a lot of the time. Fans are for sure most of the time. And coaches have the ability to try to bring in replacements. All fans can do is complain.
What are the NCAA rules about signing a professional contract for another sport? Price signed an AFLW contract (Australian Rules) but it never worked out for her. I'm not sure if she even played (injury I think) but I think she got paid?
