What are the NCAA rules about signing a professional contract for another sport? Price signed an AFLW contract (Australian Rules) but it never worked out for her. I'm not sure if she even played (injury I think) but I think she got paid?
I tweeted that she should no longer be NCAA eligible unless the NCAA makes up some rules. She is allowed to play professionally in other sports during an NCAA career, but she also played NBL1 last year and just played in her team's season opener. Even if she is not being paid, NBL1 is not an approved offseason pro-am competition so you cannot play in it during your NCAA career. Of course, the NCAA somehow allowed Charlisse Leger-Walker to play in the New Zealand NBL during her Washington State career, which seems like blatant cheating so who knows. Price might retain NAIA eligibility though.

Interesting - I know of some Australian college signees who are playing NBL1 *before* they start their college careers (there are a few of them this season!), but I didn't know it wasn't an approved offseason league for current college athletes and therefore not allowed. Thanks for sharing that.
I did watch Price's NBL1 debut actually - she wasn't very good in it lol. She was a top Australian junior prospect at one point before AFL and injuries came along - I hope she can regain some of that form!
I'm not that surprised but is there a strong market for undersized inefficient shoot first guards? Her offense is going to look better elsewhere but there's a lot that needs to improve if she wants to reach the highest levels of their game. I've seen it discussed elsewhere that Miami could be a landing spot for her because one of her Canadian junior teammates is there (Lattimore) and they really need some guard offense.
Iowa State now only has one starter returning from the 2022-23 season, point guard Emily Ryan (who stated she's definitely returning). It's going to be a long way back for the Cyclones.
Former Iowa State player and wife of Iowa State assistant coach who also happens to be the son of the head coach (why all the nepotism) tweets rambling 'defense' of the Iowa State program. I am here for this mess and I am enjoying it (sorry Cyclone fans)
After the season, Fritz said she went home to Tennessee and sat down with her family to talk about her future plans. Fritz said she decided she needed to "find a better fit offensively for my game to take it to the next level."
What is Fritz looking for?
"A faster-paced offense," she said. "That's all I'm going to say."
Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly was not immediately available for comment Wednesday.
The Belmont coaching staff were complaining about other teams recruiting their players late in the season. It makes perfect sense for Wells if she has pro aspirations and Tennessee really need somebody who can run the point.
Maryland has three freshpeople in the transfer portal, apparently. Looks like Brenda Frese is going to have to work a bit to rebuild her roster *again*.
i think about what Mike Neighbors has done (or maybe hasn’t done) while at Arkansas and idk, I’m kinda ok with him leaving Washington assuming we’re really on the up & up.
i think looking back on it, a lot kinda just went his way, by the sheer stroke of luck, in his four years here as HC at UW – especially the last two. i think his coaching philosophy holds Arkansas wbb back from being truly elite – not that reaching that upper echelon in wcbb is easy for anyone anyway.
