The French league is the biggest worry since their season goes the latest. Now their previous season got pushed a few weeks later due to them shutting down in January (I think) due to COVID. Let's hope they wrap up by mid May and the WNBA season doesn't begin until late May.
I’m going to hold a slight pause because KMac said she would leave her season in Turkey to make it to Minnesota on time. So maybe these players will too. Otherwise, I hope they enjoy that fine.

Prioritization is gonna be a pain to deal with during this first coming free agency period it’ll be a part of with regards to guessing who it’ll affect, since we don’t know when it would be clear that a specific player won’t be able to play in the W.
That said, I’m cautiously optimistic it will eventually be good for the League’s growth & stability.
The wild card as randy said was how it’ll impact competitive salaries, particularly with driving them up as the W begins to have to compete with overseas Leagues to keep talent – theoretically anyway. Maybe the W will be fine with letting their top talent go if it means preventing their own salaries from shooting up. Multiple different ways this can all pan out.
The one thing about the 2023 prioritization rules that players better think about (and as Zahui B. learned) teams can suspend you for the season for being late if they want to. So salary dump candidates better not be late to camp. McBride is paid 202k next year - maybe that's why she saying she will not be late. Even if she is not overpaid, I'm not sure why they need both McBride and Powers.
Listened to a postseason interview with Nalyssa where she confirmed she's not going overseas this year and is looking forward to having a little break for the first time in forever. I believe it was the August 5 episode of "Locked On Women's Basketball" podcast put out from The Next.

Choices? Stephanie White? Eric Thibault? Kara Lawson? Katie Smith? Trammell?
Here is my thinking of what teams seem to want now for a new HC (not necessarily in that order, but former player is probably the most important):
1.) Former player 2.) Ties to the team 3.) Experience on championship and winning teams 4.) Assistant coach with contending team 5.) Known for a focus on the defensive end of the floor.
So my (wild and probably wrong?) guess: Briann January. She's certainly checks boxes 1, 2, 3 and 5. As for 4, she's not been an AC in the WNBA but has been an AC with Arizona State starting in 2017. She would definitely be in the conversation were she an AC on a good WNBA team, but playing for the Sun and Storm probably counts for something. She has also maintained positive ties with the team as evidenced by her coming to the recent 2012 Championship celebration. Of course, she may have her eyes on College job someday, so the WNBA may not be what she is looking for. Fever may also have someone else and more experienced in mind.
This only applies the Fever are staying in Indiana. As for that - Dunn certainly seems to talking as if they are staying, but then again were they moving it seems the team would want to clear the slate for the new owner(s) so they could hire the people they want. Dunn is still an "interim" so she can go at any time.
Dunn should make a call to Las Vegas, then to South Bend, and then to Bloomington. She should have her phone in one hand and a blank check in the other.
I mean yes it’s pretty dumb but I mean I do like the optimism that the W can snag top coach from the NCAA. Maybe one day. That said Moren would be the only one to do it from those 3 lol

Indiana seems so dysfunctional the first call will probably be to Trudi Lacey.
(Really, Lin Dunn is very sharp, and will do the best she can. But who would want that job when you're liable to have a horrible record next year and get fired the year after through no fault of your own?)
Teams hate to admit they made a mistake, but in this case they probably did. Not that Pokey is a great GM or coach, but the team much better in her last year than where they are now, and had improved over time. She also does have record of helping improve players. Sloot was not always the player she is now, and Quigley probably owes her career to Pokey. She even managed to get something out of Imani.
With Chatman assistant coaching here in Seattle, it does seem like a matter of time before she's awarded another opportunity as a HC somewhere in the League. She certainly still has the energy for it, if her typical sideline gestures & activity (as if she were the HC) are any indication...
