Emma Cannon is the only veteran free agent to keep landing there. Free agents wouldn't go to Tulsa because of the poor management, and now to Dallas, too. The Westchester Liberty couldn't get free agents because of the crappy gym they played in. It's all about the management treating players well, which Indiana apparently isn't doing now.
An experienced HC “candidate” would have no interest in going somewhere they can’t win right away. Unless they thought they could do a quick turnaround (fat chance with this roster), they’re not gonna want to risk their previously established reputation if they end up getting ousted cuz the project is just too big to complete.
But even a younger, less experienced HC candidate may not want the job if they don’t think they’ll be able to see it through – from rebuild to contention.
It does seem like a big conundrum. Even Chatman may not want to go back, considering she was already there and theoretically knows exactly what she’d be getting back into better than anyone.
I wonder if the team would hire Walt Hopkins if he were interested. No idea what he’s doing these days.

Last I heard he was coaching the German WNT.
You could have said a lot (maybe all) of the same things about Atlanta, and they have at least started to turn it around. Wright was a good hire, but had no HC experience (and before her Collen was an AC lifer), which is probably where Indiana needs to start. (Hint January). While no one would want to jump into a doomed to fail situation, someone w/o any head coach experience has to take a risk or they will likely never move up.
True. Someone will get hired, and maybe they’ll magically be the right person.
Still, Atlanta has some things going for it that Indiana doesn’t: The new ownership with their own vision/ambitions for the team, and being in Georgia sure ain’t the same as being in Indiana these days.
With the season now over, this franchise will be on my mind over these next couple weeks. Wonder if anything happens.
Indiana continues to get redder politically as its statewide abortion ban went into effect three days ago, if that's even remotely something to be considered as well.
Yeah - if there is going to be a move, it will probably be announced pretty soon. Based on what Dunn has been saying it does seem like she's assuming she keeps her job for a while. So maybe that means they are staying or maybe the new owners just figure she is a a good choice for a transition. In the end, I think they stay in Indiana. Maybe they reboot or rebrand the team to coincide with their return to the remodeled arena. As for the team's future, everything hinged on the lottery and it's very annoying that they haven't even announced when it will be.
This whole situation is very strange, from Indiana's weird schedule, abysmal attendance, awful play and dismantling of the front office.
Maybe they were waiting for the Finals to be over to announce a move, but given the time necessary to relocate, sell tickets, etc., it's almost too late already.
And I think the Red State issue is real, as to accept the WNBA requires acceptance of Black athletes, lesbian athletes and a strongly progressive attitude from the players and coaches.
Long term, Indianapolis does not seem like an ideal home for a WNBA franchise. If Joe Lacob is willing to take the team to SF, the WNBA should make it happen -- but if anything is going to happen, it has to happen very, very soon.

If a move has been in the works for a while, then an announcement isn't too late at all. As I've pointed out before on this thread, the 2017 Finals wrapped up on October 4, and the Stars' relocation to Vegas was announced more than a week later on October 12.
And here we are in present day, still in the month of September.
Additionally, the San Antonio Stars' twitter account is still in existence today. When the Stars' season/the 2017 regular season ended on September 2, it's not like everything went dark right then & there. Content sporadically continued to get posted every so often in the weeks that followed – and just looking at the content itself, nothing seemed to suggest they'd be moving leading up to the formal announcement, which was the definitive point when all communications on the account ceased.
Just some context from the most recent relocation.

Fever can now add VJ to their list of HC candidates. My take is she may be the best of the candidates with previous HC experience. Somewhere around here I posted a list of former HC's they might consider. It's not a pretty picture. Walt Hopkins? Agler? Pokey? Stocks, Stanley? And then the list goes downhill from there.....
BTW - it's not terribly easy to quit twitter. Just not tweeting anything for 5 years doesn't do it.

Not sure what this has to do with anything. De-activating a twitter account at least is pretty easy. Keep it inactive for 30 days, and 💥boom💥 it's deleted forever.
I appreciate that the Stars left their account intact, even if the W will probably never have a team in San Antonio again.

Under the agreement, Bally Sports Indiana will continue to televise and stream all available regular season Pacers games, two pre-season games, and available first-round post-season games each season. The regional sports network will also carry up to 10 Fever games per season. Bally Sports Indiana is entering its 27th season as the Pacers’ media partner.
Probably they are staying but "up to 10 games" is not much of a commitment to the Fever.
So Eric Thibault, Latricia Trammell or Nakase didn't interview and these two end up as the finalists? Also, I wasn't expecting Pokey to go after this position.
They think now is the time to give her another chance to be a HC, particularly after the season the Lynx just had? How had she even helped them the past few seasons exactly?
That settles it, I truly don’t care what happens to this franchise anymore ✌🏼
