Watts & Dungee on the same team seems… odd. Redundant, maybe.
So their Sydney Uni Flames team played their first game – a 55-58 loss to the Brittney Sykes-led UC Capitals. Watts actually started, playing 31 minutes and scoring 16 points on a very inefficient 5-16 FG. Dungee meanwhile came off the bench, playing only 19 minutes and scoring just 3 points on 1-6 FG. Part of me thought Dungee simply got drafted to completely the wrong team for her and that she would most likely shine overseas, but unless she landed on yet another poor-fitting team... she's gonna have a lot of work to do to save her W career, it seems.
Damn... She could've stayed at Arkansas another year and avoided all this madness. 😔 Maybe she comes back Stateside and does some serious solo training to polish up her game before the coming season. Otherwise, it's looking more & more like the end of her W career. How sad.

Paying attention to the WNBL, I have to believe someone else in the WNBA will give Shyla Heal another shot. Also, anyone have more info on Anneli Maley? She's been putting up some big numbers this season.

I think Heal will eventually get another chance as well, though I wouldn't be surprised if it won't be in 2022, since she's still so young, and I think she still may need to distance herself from her unfortunately disastrous rookie season.
I was told Maley is an undersized 4 right now, which are the type of players who can really thrive in the WNBL (Kelsey Griffin is apparently another). But in the WNBA, they'd be closer to the dreaded 3/4 tweener that often times doesn't ever stick on a team. When Maley was at the University of Oregon back in 2017-18, she was listed as a 6-2 guard, so I'd like to think she could be a 3 in the W, a position that several Aussies have sort of carved out a niche for themselves (Bec Allen, Steph Talbot, Jenna O'Hea and to a lesser extent Rachel Jarry some years back, and then of course the Penny Taylor). Too, it's early enough in the WNBL season to where you don't know how sustainable Maley's hot start is, since she's still pretty young (went undrafted in 2020, the year she was eligible to be), and hasn't looked like a star like this before.

THROWBACK!
I was really hoping Jarry would have become something better in the W. I loved her with the Lynx.
