Big if true! Cloud is from Pennsylvania, so I would tend to believe that this is legit. And as much as I'd love to hear more, I'm guessing this (again, if true) will be kept completely under wraps until a formal announcement is ready to be made.
I wonder what kind of prospective owners are out there for a Philly team. Whether or not they'd be affiliated with the Sixers is another question.
Anyone got any good potential names for the team off the top of their head?

The fact that she said a Philly team has been in the works for specifically "a year and a half" legitimizes it for me. Although that certainly doesn't mean it can't fizzle out in half that amount of time...
But yeah, a new team next year would be incredibly ideal, in more ways than one.

Maybe LeBron's group just buys the Sun from the Mohegan Tribe and moves it to Boston.
Or maybe LeBron's group wants a team in whichever place makes the most sense business-wise. He himself has no prior connection to Boston that I know of, for example.
Yeah, it would be very odd for him to have a team in Boston. He could place them anywhere I guess. Cleveland? Columbus? Cincinnati? Grand Rapids? Butte, Montana?
I cant get past the paywall (w/o paying). Did the article say anything to suggest a WNBA team was on the radar?
It didn't get a timeline, just that they're interested in getting teams in those leagues. Though they mention MLS, I don't see the Revolution moving out of Foxborough.
The answer should have been: “Yes we are looking at expansion.” No more of this we will see crap.
I just want the League to be up front & honest. “No, we’re not looking at expansion seriously at this time.” While they may be exploring avenues casually, this League hasn’t actually expanded since the Dream in ‘08, so most of us fans aren’t convinced of anything until we actually see it in front of us. And there are valid arguments out there that argue that it doesn’t make sense to expand until franchise values start increasing and/or more teams than not start making money. It’s so tiring to hear League officials & media bring up expansion as a concept like this time & time again. And again, expansion won’t happen until we’re firmly out of this pandemic. Them talking about it now is just ridiculous.
