It seems like now would be a good time to collectively consider if we want Game Day Threads in one forum and General Discussion Threads in another. Fwiw I personally have no preference and will go along with whatever.
Definitely voted for an Area 51 reboot, though. We'd have lots to talk about between now and... indefinitely.

I like the option to have game day threads separate. Not sure how many new members have joined recently & if the activity of these boards would warrant it.

I'd strongly advise against an Area 51 that allowed political or cultural discussions. In my experience, the inability to discuss these issues objectively and without insult led directly to the banishment and voluntary leaving of many valuable WBB posters from RebKell. This inability respectfully to discuss such issues is not limited to WBB posters, of course. It is a now deeply ingrained in our current nationwide, if not worldwide, fabric. It divides friends, families, sports and all of society. This site won't solve that problem.
Since I don't know how an Area 51 could be policed to avoid political, cultural and religious topics, which can sneak in from many directions, I vote not to have any Area 51 at all. It's not worth the cost, especially to a tenderly growing WBB website like this one.
Virtually all other subject matter forums in which I participate, many of them long-lived and high volume, do not have Area 51-like sub-forums and do not allow any political/cultural discussions. As a result, many of those forums have a welcoming, family-like atmosphere rather than a trigger-happy and sniper-filled feel.
I don't see any need for any other forums until there is a larger base here. Probably the best thing to do is figure out how to get the word out on this forum for the Rebkell members. Season will end in only a few weeks and usually the discussion drops off substantially at that time, so it will be hard to get a critical mass together and keep it together until next season.
All good points. Another Area 51 could be too risky and drama-inducing - not to mention it may be off-brand; the site is clearly named, “Women’s Basketball Daily-Forums” after all. I’m fine with everything as-is.
I hope we get as many Rebkellians back soon. 💔 Also, I wonder if we’ll eventually see any past members who quit/got banned from Reb’s join this board...
Also, a quick shout-out to WBBDaily for being such a welcoming & accommodating host to all of us ‘newbies’. Hope it doesn’t feel like we’re committing a hostile takeover here!
Which would be preferable, an entirely new "WNBA Gameday" board, or just "sticky" game threads like we were used to having at Reb's? I'd prefer the latter, but hey...I'm easy!

I’d echo the remarks on an Area 51. I don’t want to have to wade into any political remarks. If we could strictly focus on basketball or the relevant topics, I’d be happy.
There seems to be a few people who set up camp over at the Boneyard, but I did post something there.
I think the challenge is getting that critical mass of people here during a game to make it feel like we’re all here rooting or rooting against one another all for the love of the game and the outstanding players on the floor.
I try to be around, but I run out of things to say about Stella Johnson.
The "sticky" game day threads seem to work well. I recall we did briefly try a game day forum and a lot of people got confused and started game day threads anyway. If there is a lot of traffic, a game day forum (like on Rebkell with the NCAAW crowd) might be justified.
I don't like a separate game-day forum. Now maybe each WNBA game deserves its own thread (especially next year when there are fewer games per day), but for college, I think we could leave it up to individuals to start threads for big games. And if no one starts a thread, it's probably not that big a game.
I just never went to the separate game-day forum for college games because seldom was there much there. If the thread is in the main forum and there's lots of action, then folks can check in if they like.

A forum for high school, AAU and other pre-college club ball might make sense. It likely would never be a high volume sub-forum, but it certainly was 10-20 years ago on the old Full Court Press website administered by Clay Kallam. College scouts, basketball trainers and devotees of GHSBB would contribute lots of player evaluations, team rankings and videos. It prompted me to attend my very first high school and AAU games -- specifically for Bria Holmes, then an 8th grader and now on the CT Sun. On other sites, this level of basketball is usually stuffed into the NCAA sub-forum but that doesn't really attract the few hardcore GHSBB fans and professionals.
Thanks for calling out FCP, Glenn -- and we did have some action for that forum. There is a lot of interest at that level, but it would take time to build a following. Worth it in the long run, though, from my perspective.
Also, though whoever it was will never see this, there was someone back in the day saying how great Bria Holmes once, and I was dismissive because her high school didn't travel and she wasn't in a big-time club program. Just want to say that person was right, and I was wrong.

Yes, he was from Connecticut and was the reason I began watching Bria Holmes at Hillhouse High School and AAU. I met him at several games. Big guy. Played semi-pro and overseas basketball. Had a bellowing voice from the crowd encouraging Hillhouse and especially Holmes. I had no experience in those days in predicting a WNBA future for a high school freshman, and may not have much more now, but I wouldn't have predicted it for Holmes, who later grew in stature and skills. Geno didn't offer her even though she was the rare local talent. You're right that he was right.

I'll poke around in the available plug-ins here and see if there's anything that might replicate that.
I switched to the Probook style. It has rectangles that say new and do what I want, but everyone's avatar is messed up.
I see what you mean...I may have tinkered with it too much after installing it. I'm going to delete & reinstall it, and just leave the default settings.
