Too bad J-spoon isn’t around here yet, so I’ll get us started with some wild trade ideas where value may be way off haha!
First up: NaLyssa Smith, she’s been benched with Temi Fagbenle proving to be a great fit with Clark and Boston.
Soooo how about Smith+Berger for Hamby+Cooke+’25 second round pick.
Why for Indiana: Gain a two time former all star, former league champ, and player putting up all star #s to start the season who is a seasoned vet to pair with this young squad. They also want to be competitive this season after nearly making the playoffs last season. I know this move doesn’t help with their defense or need for a wing. But it feels like a win now move they might go for, despite the risk of Hamby being UFA after the season is up. Maybe they can negotiate an extension.
Why for Los Angeles: Commit to the youth movement and improve chances to win the Bueckers lottery. They are a lottery team regardless, and gain a cost controlled young player who slots in nicely next to Rickea and Cam, instead of the risk of losing Hamby for nothing in 2025. They give up a SRP because Hamby will be unrestricted.
I’ve never been good with trade value lol so be nice 😜😘

I like it(for Grace), it won't happen, but I like it! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Is Hamby going to be a UFA? Don't see her sticking around either LA or Indiana.

NaLyssa Smith's defense gives new meaning to the word "absymal."
She was -24 in 18 minutes last night, which is pretty hard to do. She has no value right now ...

Trades in the WNBA a rare these days because of cap space limits. New York, Connecticut, Seattle, Dallas, and Phoenix really can't do much unless it's swapping identical salaries.

That’s why I think Indy tries to trade her soon, to get any value even if based on her past seasons scoring/rebounding ability. But I realized LA is the one with cap space not Indiana, so this version of a trade couldn’t work.
It’s hard for me to gauge the worth of an UFA, Hamby has great value this season but what do you get for a potential one and done? That’s why LA maybe takes a chance- control of a young player who gets paired with a great defensive rookie post.

herhoopstats.substack.com/p/should-the-fever-consider-tradingInteresting points, I agree they shouldn’t panic trade. If they tried to trade Mitchell though, I would love for them to target Sykes. Mitchell+Berger+’26FRP for Sykes+Samuelson Feels like an easy yes for Indy to add a defensive beast like Sykes who has also been running some point. Another shooter in Karlie. Mystics get another FRP plus a recent #7 pick, and a soon to be UFA Mitchell who would be a much needed scorer for them this season. Maybe they say yes since Sykes is 30 while Mitchell is 28, and feel they can convince Kelsey to stay past this season.
