if we’re talking about teams who finished at .500 or above, that would be Stephanie White. how many Top-6 picks are on that roster? esp. compared to the respective rosters of Vegas, New York, and Dallas. i count just two: the engaged couple.
Good point ... but that would assume draft status equates to WNBA production.
In general, it does. First round picks are, on average, better than second round picks and so on. #6 is good cutoff point. There's huge drop from #6 picks to #7 picks. #6 picks average about 25% more games and nearly twice as many starts as #7 picks.
Thanks for that info, pilight. It has seemed to me the cutoff was more around number four than number six, but maybe that's recency bias.
That said, are there any other tiers of draft levels than equate to performance? In other words, is pick eight a lot more valuable than pick 14? Is pick 14 a lot more valuable than pick 24?
One issue, of course, is how you measure value ...

Good choice. While it was essentially much of the same team as last year, there was some key changes and Brionna Jones’s injury and she had them basically the same.
I didn’t think she was a good coach in Indiana, but this year has me thinking different.
