Well they got *one salary dump out of the way, do they have another coming (Russell)? Guess they don’t want to rebuild 🥶 hopefully the re-tool looks cute
All signs seem to point to Seattle signing Diggins-Smith and Nneka now. Of course, this could blow up for them like Stewart leaving for New York last year.
@stormeo you went from lottery to competitor so quickly. Hopefully Nneka signs with you guys!
we won’t be competitors yet until we sign Nneka. or i guess Bonner. or both? otherwise, if signing SDS is the only big thing we do… maybe we end up back in the lottery after all.
hope Nneka announces her decision at the conclusion of the weekend. i’m sure she’s aware she’s potentially holding up much of the remaining moves to be made around the league.

The longer Nneka waits it feels like she’s trying to figure out a money way with JJ and Stewie to make it work in NY. Ma’am just sign in Seattle and get paid
formerly pickdiamondmillerchallenge lol formerly dmillerturnprochallenge ha formerly bostonturnprochallenge lol
that said, in the age of superteams – a discussion i see is being revived elsewhere even as no one else asked for it – i would totally understand why Nneka would find NY appealing. cons: for sure a paycut. pros: the biggest shot at a title out of her three remaining suitors, having a smaller role which means not having to carry a team. i could definitely see that as appealing to her.
if she doesn’t sign with us tomorrow, i’ll get worried. i’d like to think she’s just taking the weekend to mull things over.
if she didn’t pick us, i’d truthfully prefer that she 'superteam' it up in NY over picking ballin-on-a-budget Chicago lolz.

I’m happy Nneka picked Seattle! Do yall start Horston at the 3, or do a three guard lineup and start Sami? Or do we see Diamond joining this group for cheap? Not sure y’all have the cap space though
Be kind to yourself, the way you expect others to be kind to you.

i hope we start Horston but i would understand why we’d want to go with Whitcomb instead, even if then we wouldn’t be starting a true SF.
welp, we officially have an interesting team this year. i still think 4th place is probably our ceiling, so unless we make an underrated addition on the cheap, i’m still not sure i see a legitimate title contender yet. for as good as Nneka, SDS, and Loyd are, they as well as Whitcomb are all on ”the wrong side of 30,” as one would say.
so why did Ogwumike & Diggins-Smith choose to sign here? sounds like 1) Loyd and 2) the facilities, mainly. and yes, Diggins-Smith & Ogwumike were coalescing throughout this free agency period; they’ve been wanting to play together since Diggins-Smith chose Notre Dame over Stanford apparently… and here’s their first real chance to (outside of Team USA) all these years later. i also peeped Ogwumike basically saying she wanted to play a main role in her team’s success, which is perhaps why she didn’t choose New York over us. (the money too might’ve played a part…)
again, i don’t see this group procuring a title – too many better, deeper teams out there to compete with in my eyes – but i hope it ends up a fun time for them when all is said & done nonetheless.
Storm still have a fairly mediocre bench. Either Horston starts at SF or they have Whitcomb start. Their bench currently is Melbourne, Dulcy, Holmes and Russell plus either Horston or Whitcomb.

listen, idgaf if she’s washed – i want us to bring in McCoughtry on a cheap deal if absolutely nothing else but to be a mentor to Horston. we absolutely, positively still need a SF with some years of experience on this roster. we can’t let Horston be the only SF on this roster and simply gamble on her being able to meet the moment – that’s not setting anyone up for success.
Diggins has always come off entitled ever since she wanted out of Dallas. She's talented, but hasn't played a full season since 2021. She's lasted 3 season in each city(Tulsa, Dallas, Phoenix). She'll be content in Seattle this season, complain about it in 2025 and then probably retire after that season.
maybe so. but maybe also Tulsa/Dallas and Phoenix were shitty organizations like they’ve seemed to be at times. not to say that she for sure didn’t play a part within both organizations, but i’d put it out there that each of her situations were probably more two-sided in reality than it all being a “her” problem. it’s not like other good players haven’t left Phoenix & Dallas during/after she was there, if nothing else.
the fact that the Seattle Storm organization, accomplished & pretty scandal-free throughout its history, made it a point to go after Diggins-Smith in the first place makes it seem to me like she may not necessarily have this “poison pill” label around the league that some fans would’ve thought she had. she has a personality that maybe makes finding the right organizational fit for her a little tougher, but if any franchise is gonna be the right fit for her, i’d like to think it’s this one.
