I watched Santa Clara upset Gonzaga. Fun game with great shooting and an exciting finish.
My Huskies lost to Santa Clara earlier this season. It's interesting that they're led by a freshman, but not just any freshman: Tess Heal, Shyla Heal's cousin. She's leading the team in scoring, averaging 16 ppg right now. And while that roster has a heavy dose of Aussies on it (specifically all from Melbourne), I wonder if Heal will ever transfer 'up' and try her hand at a Power-5 school.

Heal clearly has P5 talent. I'd love to see her give the Pac-12 a go. Santa Clara also has an Australian ex-Washington transfer Olivia Pollerd who had 5 blocks in this game and knocked down some key three pointers. I always like seeing legitimate stretch 4/5s play.

Oh yes. I'm sure it was a good day for Pollerd when she beat her former team, playing a big role to boot. She was one of several holdover recruits from our previous coaching staff who stuck around after the coaching change anyway, and was 'rewarded' with very little playing time. I'm sad for those recruits who never got a chance, especially Pollerd who has showed a good amount, albeit at the mid-major level.
A few of their parents were definitely salty about that whole first season and had nothing good to say about the current coaching staff on twitter... I don't really blame them for feeling that way, but also, I had to roll my eyes a bit at the lack of class (even as hardly anyone noticed the comments lmao).
