Entertaining Michigan vs Iowa game so far. Laila Phelia is definitely a future WNBA 1st round prospect. I'm surprised Iowa don't run more plays to get Caitlin Clark clean looks from the outside.
Fox's attempts to talk up Caitlin Clark are just silly. The comparison to Stephen Curry lol - the thing women's college basketball commentators don't like to talk about Clark is that her three point shot has been average for one and a half seasons now. Curry is a significantly better outside shooter than Clark atm. FWIW, so is Kelsey Plum (the commentators said she couldn't be compared to Clark lol).
Refreshing to see two college teams battling it out by executing their offenses competently. Clark is a quality guard and she's great off the dribble. Hoping her outside shot does return properly eventually.
So is Clark a PG in the W or a SG? Quite the debate between my draft experts now.
I view Clark as more of a point guard than a 2 guard but which one she's going to play in the WNBA depends on who else is in the backcourt with her. I also don't think it matters too much because I think her role is going to be similar, regardless of what guard position she nominally is. She's closer to 5'10 than 6'0 (gotta love college height inflation) so I don't think we'll see her play the 3 like Diana Taurasi has.
Solid game for FOX's first women's college basketball game.
I think it's the second, but this was the first Big Ten game. They aired a UConn at DePaul blowout 1/31/21 for the first game ever. 516k viewers. Hoping today's game beats that number!
Should be getting a few more on FOX in the upcoming seasons. #byeESPN
