...uhh, if Clark is making those Curry-range shots at a good enough clip, why wouldn't her teammates let her take those shots? she'll have to build up that credibility in practice, but no doubt that's something she can and probably will do they still let Taurasi take those kind of shots here & there in Phoenix even now that she can't make 'em all that much anymore and at this point, yes, Clark can be as good as Taurasi – sorry to those for whom that's too hot a take!

Borlase and Puoch are legit WNBA prospects. Buenavida - maybe? Loughridge missed her WNBL rookie season due to a torn ACL and she's a bit small for a point guard so I probably wouldn't rate her as a WNBA prospect atm. A good WNBL rookie season could change that.

re: Caitlin Clark, it seems strange to me to question the process when the results are so good. 30 points (9/17 FG), 10 rebounds and 17 assists today. She can take whatever shots she wants on my team if she can run an offense that well.

She has the potential to be the next Taurasi. Something I never said about Ionescu.

She has the potential to be the next Taurasi. Something I never said about Ionescu. Ionescu’s still special in her own way though. The real difference between the two could be that Clark’s more of a true 1, whereas Io is still maybe a smidge more effective at the 2. If Io’s a “worse” player than Clark once Clark gets to the pros, it’s likely not gonna be by all that much. I wonder if she’d be further polished at this point had that ankle injury not affected her for really her first two full seasons in the league.

The correct answer to Clark vs Ionescu is BOTH. WNBA needs more guards like them.

There are a couple of players who I want to see over the summer and then early in the club season before I make grand pronouncements about them.

So with Rickea Jackson staying another year, she now ends up in this draft.
Where do we see her falling to now?

I got Jackson a late first-round pick/early second-round.

So some updated views from my previous posts in this thread. I have eight can't misses in my 2024 draft list (this is ignoring potential deferrals of course):
Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Cameron Brink, Aaliyah Edwards, Angel Reese, Mackenzie Holmes, Charlisse Leger-Walker, Isobel Borlase (yeah I think she's really good)
Kamilla Cardoso could play her way onto this list. I want to see how she does when Aliyah Boston isn't around!
There are a few other close 'maybes'. Rickea Jackson falls into this category. Ayoka Lee does too (I get the impression she's not THAT interested in pro basketball for some reason). Out of the numerous non-Clark non-Bueckers point guards available (and there are MANY), Georgia Amoore and a healthy Diamond Johnson top the list for me. I don't think Olivia Miles is going to come out early for this draft.
Have you noticed there's no wings in this list? They're all in the 2023 class for some reason lol. Some 2023 deferrals could change this though. Jackson is kinda of a wing - I don't think it's clearly defined whether she's a pro 3 or a 4.
That's already a first round's worth of players. It's looking good. I really hope there are no deferrals in this draft!

Not sold on Charlisse Leger-Walker as I'm not sure if she can defend at that level. And I think Cardoso goes high.

I think Leger-Walker's offense will make up for any defensive deficiencies. There are quite a few guards in the WNBA who can score and create for others, but don't defend very well. I think the key for Leger-Walker will be scoring efficiency - I think it will improve when she is surrounded by more talent and she's operating in a pro offense but it's not a guaranteed thing.

Caitlin Clark really struggles with physicality. And when she doesn’t get her way she starts flopping like a fish fresh out of water.

VT's Georgia Amoore a first rounder in 2024? Not high on her, but some think she's a possible lotto pick.

VT's Georgia Amoore a first rounder in 2024? Not high on her, but some think she's a possible lotto pick. Her senior year without Elizabeth Kitley will be interesting (if it happens!). She can hit difficult outside shots but her general scoring efficiency isn't good. That will need to improve if she's to make the WNBA (and the Opals).
