The Dream will be firmly in the playoffs this season. They need to give Rhyne some teammates who will stay healthy and take pressure off of her. I think a trade will depend upon if she(Allisha) agrees to sign an extension or not. People are really underestimating how much she possibly wants to come back home lol. We have more of a chance than people think.
Doesn’t mean they’ll be an actual contender though. Hell, we had maybe five true contenders in 2022? Some would’ve argued four or even just three.
Who said anything about being a contender? I said we will be in the playoffs. And anything can happen as long as Rhyne is surrounded with the right players. And potentially getting Allisha Gray is a start. Rome wasn’t built in a day. And the man responsible for the current Aces roster is now the GM here. Future is bright.

Interesting timing to say this on a day like today where a move like this was made… still hope you’re right that the future’s bright.

I would’ve gotten rid of AD over Kristy. But this isn’t our only move we are going to make. And honesty D Ron brings more to the table for us anyways
Danielle Robinson is an interesting player who can help a team in several ways -- but she also is very damaging when it comes to floor spacing. Her presence will allow her defender to sag off and supply more help, direct or indirect, to whoever's guarding Rhyne Howard. At the same time, though, she brings a pure point-guard mentality and a solid veteran presence.
Kristy Wallace is seven years younger, and in her prime. She could take a step forward this year, but likely she's just a nice player.
The key here is Howard, whose +/- was pretty bad for the Dream, despite her gaudy numbers (well, 36.1% from the field isn't that gaudy). It could be that a veteran presence will help her help the team more, and the only downside would be that Wallace suddenly emerges as a legit WNBA player and is productive three years from now when Robinson is an assistant coach in the B1G.

+\- is the most useless stat ever especially when trying to judge Rhyne’s stats. This team wasn’t healthy all season. Had a different lineup damn near every game. And she was really the only consistent offensive threat every night. Saw double teams and the best defender every night. I don’t judge any rookie off of stuff like that. The best thing is Rhyne is coachable and listens and never complains. Can’t say that about a lot of young stars…. No other rookie was tasked with doing what she had to do. She will continue to make the doubters eat their words.
And I wanted to keep Wallace but I really want people to stop acting like she’s a budding star or something. She’s not.

One thing about +/- is that it doesn't lie. When Howard was on the court, opponents scored more points/gave up less than when she wasn't. 11.3 points to be exact, the worst on the team.
I don't know what being a rookie has to do with it, except that young players improve on defense if they care about it -- and that's certainly a possibility for Howard.
But if you like scoring more points than the other team, Aari McDonald is the woman you want on the floor.
I agree with you about Wallace, though: +/- of -2.5. Not much to see here, I don't think.
Dangerfield and Burton are the non scoring PG that Dallas needs. Howard starting alongside McCowan could be a bonus. Hopefully Trammell knows what she's doing.
Dallas need a non scoring point guard? They started Mabrey at point guard last year over Burton and it wouldn't surprise me if they did it again this year. You want all positions to be able to score. This is why Veronica Burton struggled to get minutes at times last year.
On Crystal Dangerfield, I agree she's a scoring point guard and her ROTY season showed this. Outside of the bubble, she hasn't been able to demonstrate that she can score effectively. She's a marginal player at this point and I don't think she figures significantly in the Wings' rotation even if she makes the roster.
Acquiring Howard means there will likely be some opportunity cost for the Wings as it may mean they no longer can re-sign Mabrey *and* McCowan. McCowan is more likely to walk but then again, they could get more cap space out of any potential Allisha Gray trade. The Wings are definitely a work in progress and I think it'll be easier to assess what they've done once this sequence of transactions is complete.
Yeah, idk what people are seeing, but to me, Mabrey is a legit combo guard who can legitimately play either the 1 or the 2 as needed – we’ve also seen her play some 3, though that’s certainly her tertiary position out of the three perimeter ones.
If she comes back to Dallas longterm and continues to start alongside Ogunbowale, I don’t think either of them will ever have to pick a “true position” if they (esp. Ogun) can be coached to playmake for whoever Dallas’ main frontcourt pieces will be. Ogunbowale just has to take fewer (and thus better – unless I have that backwards) shots and look to pass a little more. Mabrey to me seems to already naturally do that.

Mabrey played better without Arike annd next to a real PG imo.

#3 pick this year could work out very nicely for the Wings. Sure they'll likely get a wing who doesn't shoot threes well but with potentially Mabrey, Ogunbowale, Howard and Sabally around them, that provides very good spacing for the rookie wing to work in. I am also sure that #3 pick will be working VERY HARD on their outside shot too. They also have the money to re-sign Mabrey *and* McCowan now if they want to. Harrison is almost certainly gone and the new #3 pick will probably replace Collier in terms of salary. They still need another wing though, and preferably one with a bit of experience.
The No. 3 pick will be a nice player with upside. I think the floor is highest for Haley Jones, but the ceiling is higher for Diamond Miller or Rickea Jackson.

All three players deserve better than having to play with Arike and for Greg Bibb.
Unless Trammell goes with a three guard line-up, Wings now have no wings since they traded both Thornton and Gray. Jones is probably the better fit that Miller here.
