Honestly, beyond Stewart, Jefferson, and maybe Tiffany Mitchell, I have absolutely no idea who goes where and when after that. Lol. I don't think it's a particularly strong draft.

This isn't a name I've heard much in this range but personally, I think Dan Hughes would be out of his mind to pass on Imani Boyette at two. Potentially Jonquel Jones considering the hole they have at the four but Hamby was solid last year and is improving in Korea.
It's hard to say what Hughes sees as his most pressing issue. The Stars were the worst scoring team last year and in my opinion Adams is really hurting the team. I would say he needs a stretch 4 most of all, with a better center as his second option. The Olympic year is going to hurt them as one assumes both Ndour and Ayayi will not be available until after the Olympics.
Boyette and Hamblin (Oregon State) have both been mentioned but I'm honestly more impressed with Jonquel Jones. I suspect they'd take a good hard look at Morgan Tuck too if she came out.
It doesn't matter where San Antonio's need is most. With the number two pick you always pick best available. If that's Jones; so be it. If it's Moriah Jefferson, then pick her. Or whoever.

At that high a level, "best available" is not always cut-and-dry. Jones. Jefferson, Tuck, Mitchell could each have arguments made for them. I personally think Jefferson has separated herself as the best available after Stewart but some opinions might differ.
I feel like everyone is just assuming Tuck is declaring for the draft this year. I'm sorry but in Women's basketball you assume they are staying for their senior season until they declare. Not the opposite. Last year was an extremely unusual year with 2 players declaring before their Senior year. Most years it never happens.

Tuck has also already said she'll return next year and she's mentioned "five championships" and the "Huskies of Honor" so considering her setback with her knee I think it's about time to shelf that discussion anyway.

On the contrary, there continue to be reports that because of the knee, there has been a little discussion about maybe making money while she can. I personally am assuming that she will stay for that 5th year but I have heard enough to know for a fact that the teams in the running for her are not writing her off yet.

Well, let me be that guy: there's nothing to those reports. The last thing on her family's mind is money. They're a very well put together bunch. Morgan is much more interested in a UConn Master's Degree than a measly WNBA contract.

Fair enough. I would be quite pleased to see her stay myself, especially if she has a plan like that. And she really could contend for a unique record of 5 NCs.
So we come back to: what does San Antonio do? Take Jefferson? Trade down? If they are set at PG with DRob, they could trade down to where they'd want to get the player they are targeting.
I haven't seen Texas this year, but I've got a hunch Boyette gets drafted higher than people (myself included) expect. Every WNBA Coach/GM
is looking for a "Griner killer", or they should be. Expectations for Imani coming out of high school were a bit too high perhaps, given her lineage. Chicago would be a good fit for her, imo...but with each passing game the likelihood of her falling
to the Sky @ #10 seems to be less likely.

I don't watch that much WCBB, but I'm becoming more aware & watching some games this month & I am impressed w Jillian Alleyne, Ruth Hamblin, Tiffany Mitchell etc. Also wondering: why does the wnba mock draft site have Lexi Eaton as #16 pick? Is she really that good?

I've been watching Lexi Eaton (Rydalch) for four years now, and I think she's a legit 16-24 pick. Her pro ceiling, imo?...an Allie Quigley type combo guard, perhaps. As with so many players, Lexi's ability to defend
at the next level will be key. Since I saw her first in her freshman year, she's had a relentless nature to her game, that's a bit more under control now. She worked out last summer with former WNBA player Erin Thorn, that's not a bad role
model for her. If you get a chance to watch BYU, check out her teammate Kalani Purcell...a JUCO transfer, New Zealand native...she's putting up beastly numbers this season, and might be a solid prospect for the '17 draft.

I think Boyette going any lower than three is going to look bad in years to come. I really would like to see SA take her and Hughes has called a couple Texas games that she's played well in this year.
I'm intrigued by the D. Rob injury because my initial understanding was that it was serious yet she was named to the USAB pool and there has yet to be a major announcement from the Stars, not that I expect one yet but still... If she's able to play I think it would be smarter to take a big: Boyette and Jones are really the only two I can think of that I would take over MoJeff or Mitchell however.
There's no major injury as far as I know. It still hurts her trade value however, which is bad news because they were already low on assets. Beforehand, I was fully backing a DRob trade for the highest 1st round pick possible (hell, throw in Adams too), but now I doubt either of those players will get SAS a high enough pick to get both Jefferson and Boyette.
So what does everyone think of Tiffany Mitchell? I was a big fan of hers heading into the season and thought she might go as early as #3, but she's regressed significantly this year. Sometimes she looks dominant, other times, she's MIA. I understand that South Carolina has a very post-heavy offense and that she might get lost somewhat, but her numbers were terrific last season efficiency-wise. She seems well-rounded and definitely has a WNBA body, but what's the next-level potential?

It's my understanding that she injured her Achilles tendon while playing for Praha and there have been reports that she went back to the US for surgery. I guess I can't confirm the surgery part for sure, but that's what some foreign sites were reporting.

I saw a Spanish site that loosely translated to torn Achilles which is why I thought it was serious. But I also don't speak more then conversational Spanish so take that as you must.
