Previous seasons have always shown the summer months of July and August draw bigger numbers for the league. Essentially once schools are done, attendance begins to increase.
I don't know if this is a nationwide trend or just in California but ...
School is starting much earlier now. Apparently the idea is to have finals before Christmas, which moves the start date to mid-August or earlier. Schools in California now get out in mid-May or earlier, as opposed to June in the past.

Is this true elsewhere?
Majority of schools in NJ & NYC end this week. Most start around Labor Day.

A majority of MN schools start right after Labor Day or the week before and are out before Memorial Day.
There are the occasional ones that start mid-August and have to go after due to snow day makeups and the bigger schools that go slightly to early June (that is due to all of their longer breaks they get), but the above statement is what most of the schools around here do. Probably similar in SD, ND, IA.

public schools in the Seattle area tend to start the week of Labor Day or the week after, even if it’s in August. they tend to get out in mid-June – the ones in my area seem to get out at the end of this week. i haven’t heard of any getting out any sooner than the second week in June.
Would love to see the attendance figures as a percent of capacity. Anyone know if that’s published?
nothing currently. I'll be working on a new article in regards to this. Unfortunately, those that play in the NBA sized arenas have their upper bowls closed off and it's not know the capacity of just the lower half of these arenas.

just gonna say it: the fact that Indiana despite still being a bad team has better attendance than Washington and Atlanta is embarrassing. those two are in the smallest arenas in the league by far and still can’t sell 'em out. and Washington was pegged as a dark-horse contender this year (or at least a good team).
not sure what can be done on those fronts to turn the tide.

For example, Indiana's expenses for that facility are probably much higher than Washington's, and one would guess that almost all Mystics' tickets are more expensive and sold at a value closer to their face value than Indiana. (I'm guessing the camp day kids pretty much get in for free, for example.)
The owners, I imagine, are more concerned with the bottom line than raw attendance, though of course we'll never know what those bottom line numbers are.
If you compare Indiana's numbers to their 2019 final average, they're really not doing good. Outside of their opener and their camp game, they've draw ~4,000. I just don't think they advertised the team at all in 2021/22.
