Alexis Peterson is an interesting pickup. 5’7 point guard, 27 years old currently playing in Israel I believe. ACC player of the year in 2017. Drafted by the Storm after a phenomenal senior season (23ppg, 7apg, 3rpg, 3spg, 2.5 3s per game. Not sure how she’s doing in Israel, but probably a capable Colson replacement.
I’m conflicted on supporting the Aces after the Hamby allegations 🥺
Be kind to yourself, the way you expect others to be kind to you.
George is having a MVP level season on one of the best teams in the WNBL. Per game stats: 18.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.8 steals with shooting splits of 47/40/86. Ok she's not really a good defender but she's definitely a stretch 4/5 and can cover 10-15 minutes per game easily behind Wilson and Parker.

Peterson is playing in France. She's putting up some decent numbers. Appears to be more of a scoring point guard than a facilitator.

That’s sort of how she’s always been.
Because she’s playing in the French league with their late calendar (not as bad this year but still not the most ideal), we probably won’t see her sign with anyone – though at least she’d be able to midseason since she only has I think two years of service.
A few other overseas PG prospects' stats you can find in toad455’s Draft Rewind thread. I’m gonna do 2018’s lost class of players sometime today.
had to look up Courtney Range. Average career at Cal and went undrafted in 2017. Plays in Switzerland currently and has previously played in Spain, Belgium and Germany. Peterson could fill the Sydney Colson role in 2023.
I’d be a little surprised if they didn’t bring back Colson, considering how well liked she is in the locker room. She may leave though if she’s getting better offers – I hope she is. She didn’t get to show what she still has left in the tank since Vegas' starting guards played a lot and were healthy the whole year.
New Aces signing Cayla George had a massive game today with 27 points (11/13 FG, 5/6 three pointers) and 8 rebounds in a 115-72 Melbourne win over fellow WNBL title contenders Bendigo. George is #2 in the league in scoring, #1 in rebounding, top 10 in all shooting percentage categories and blocked shots and just outside the top ten in assists and steals. Her shooting splits are 47/40/86 and her jumpshot has been elite - she's hit some really difficult looks throughout the season. If she can bring this form to the WNBA, she will definitely be a contributor for this Aces team. If you remember Tangela Smith on the first two Phoenix Mercury championship teams - I can see George filling an offensive role like that off the bench. She's also a good passer and great at hitting cutters.
So Natalie Williams, Aces GM, has made some comments on the Hamby situation on a podcast. A link to the podcast and a summary of her comments are here (this links to a thread on Reddit). I am curious why the Aces haven't responded in a more obvious and public way yet to Hamby's allegations (she may have said on this on the podcast).
Wonder what that’s about. Maybe Rupert got her one title and her one life experience living in America and said, “welp, that’s good enough for me, au revoir America”
Will be interesting to see if she's a one and done player like Cecilia Zandalasini or if she pops up on another WNBA team. It's a shame Zandalasini hasn't returned to the WNBA - she's developed into a good wing player in Europe and I think she could hang in the WNBA nowadays.
Unless they went to college here, the Euros just tend not to stick around in the W after a one-season trial run.
And this trend will continue until the W starts legally offering widespread competitive salaries.
Me personally, I don’t care. Just focus on [typically] American players who want to show up & play every year. Certainly don’t raise salaries primarily to attract international talent; raise them to keep the home talent at home.
Omg bye they really said “we’re gonna handle any H*mby question in the messiest, cringe-inducing way possible” 🤡 that houdini-esque disappearing act from Fargas and that entire 5-sec wrap-up LMFAO wowowowowowww those poor media members who probably didn’t even get to ask a question were pissed
it’s more obvious than ever that Fargas was one of the people who said that shit Hamby was talking about, so then of course Fargas peaced tf out at any potential Hamby questions when any answer could come back to haunt her later in a legal setting
but also i'm rewatching that clip again, and the way Fargas' image on the zoom call disappeared after the spokesman said she had to bail, does that mean she too didn't actually leave the chat until after he said she had already left?? ?? like, you've really gotta be absolutely kidding me??
There were reportedly ~80 media members on that call and only 7 questions were asked. It started about 30 minutes late and, as you can see, ended abruptly.
