I have marked in bold the best "obtainable" players in the 2023 FA. I marked the biggest stars (e.g. Stewart, Sloot, Parker and several others) in italics simply because they are not going to go "just anywhere" (like Atlanta, Dallas, Indiana, and probably other teams) instead they will go to a team that is probably already a contender or has a long history of winning or is in a location they to live. So the bold names are the players that will probably listen to multiple offers and maybe pick the best one, while those in italics might have already picked their destination and will just call the lucky GM and tell them to make it happen.
If Mabrey & Ionescu could make it work off the court, they’d be absolutely ⚡️electric⚡️ on it.
Also, maybe I should put Mabrey in the PG section… she’s probably more of a CG than a G/F. I’ve seen her play the 3 before, but I just remembered that that was cuz Dallas’ roster composition is weird with too many goddamn lead guards on it!

I guess I have to wonder now if Phoenix is gonna re-sign Peddy for cheap in the wake of her presumed Achilles tear, in the same way they re-signed Nurse for cheap in the wake of her ACL tear.
I didn’t expect all these Cs, SFs, and PGs when doing the distribution chart. But those three groups indeed seem a little bulkier than normal – especially the C group.

I removed all the players who retiring or should retire, likely out for most or all of the season, or who are going just get a training camp contract. So these are "Players of Interest" who either a rotation player or better.
My star system:
No stars - will probably get an unprotected min contract ~vet min -100k * - signs a protected contract 100-150 (if someone overpays them) 1-2 years ** - signs a protected contract up the max. 1-3 years *** - signs a protected contract going from max to supermax 1 -4 years. (might be part of a SNT)
Breanna Stewart to NY (especially if Seattle wins it all) The Ogwumikes stay in LA (because no one else will pay for both) Candace Parker retires so Azura Stevens re-signs with Chicago None of the RFAs change teams (though some will get offer sheets) Meesseman and Sykes get new addresses and make an impact
*Tina Charles stays with Seattle if they win the championship. Otherwise, maybe Vegas on a cheaper salary? *Taurasi isn't worth the max at her age, but this will be her final year, so Phoenix will pay her whatever they can afford. *Jonquel Jones sits out the 2023 so Connecticut can give Bri Jones a big salary. *Candace Parker returns to Chicago for one more season. Meesseman is given whatever Chicago can afford. Stevens is forced elsewhere. *Dantas announces she's not returning to the WNBA *Teams overpay for Erica Wheeler, Jordan Canada, Natisha Hiedeman and Mo Jefferson due to the PG shortage. *Retirement: Sami Whitcomb, Tianna Hawkins, Angel McCoughtry, Odyssey Sims, Epiphany Prince
Candace Parker retires so Azura Stevens re-signs with Chicago
This is one I am most interested in, as I have wanted to see Stevens in Indiana since she was at Duke. It is hard for me to believe that Parker would retire without a farewell tour.
Stevens is an interesting one, cuz she wanted out of Dallas originally to go to what she felt like was/could be a contending team. If enough key players don’t at least return to the Sky next year, she probably won’t either. What the superstars do is what I assume she’ll do.
I agree that I think Parker will want one more season after this one, but we could have our answer as soon as Chicago’s season is over. She has been dropping hints throughout this season about possibly retiring, so I won’t be surprised either way if she calls it a career.
Good to see you here, pumatty. We often disagree, but in a way that invites discussion rather than insults. (Of course, I'm right more often, but that's another story ...)
