1.) Did he get out of town before being asked to leave? Otherwise, seems kind of unlike him to bail on his players.
Especially with the passing of his mother mid-season, maybe he just wanted a fresh start. Assuming at least the elder Ogwumike re-signs (I think the chances of that just went up unless Chiney doesn’t like him, but why would she not when he allowed her to go to LA in the first place?), he & the GM will have lots of cap space to work with.
I also wonder if Ownership/the front office considered if he’ll be the right coach for Chennedy Carter, too. To me, it’d be unwise to give up on her this soon and trade her.

What if they have already decided and tried to give her up? Maybe Curt can change their minds tho

To me, you only move Carter if Nneka wants her off the team. And Carter’s one of the few players actually signed to come back, too. Her trade value’s probably shot now anyway until she plays in a full season without any ambiguous absences.

Still thinking the Sparks will be an entirely new team in 2023. Nneka goes after a ring, Chiney retires, Carter is traded (again). Bri Jones likely gets a max deal here.
Miller would be wise to break the ice with Lexie Brown and get her to re-sign. She really is playing some of the best ball of her career, showing she can be one of those valuable 3-and-D players in this League. She could’ve been the difference on the Sun last year…
Sparks are gonna need to get some talent around Katie Lou Samuelson in order for her to be effective. She was better in the earlier part of the season when she was allowed to be a 4th or 5th option, and did worse later on when she had to be a 3rd or 2nd option due to the roster absences & departures. She’ll never be more than a decent role player in this League – it is what it is.
I think the chances of [Nneka re-signing] just went up unless Chiney doesn’t like him, but why would she not when he allowed her to go to LA in the first place?
Looks like no sour grapes exist between Miller & Chiney, seeing as she re-tweeted this tweet as well. The tweet also generally seems to imply (albeit loosely) that Chiney won’t be retiring next year (either) and that she’s planning on re-signing with LA, in which Nneka probably will too – as expected, one might say, based on comments Nneka has made since the Sparks' season ended.
Chiney played pretty good ball under Miller – career-high FG%s in the two seasons she played for him in CT – so this could be just what she needed in order to really re-establish herself on the court. Not too late for her to get back to being a consistent producer again imo.
EDIT: Duh, I also forgot Nneka has played under him before as well back in 2015 when he was an AC with the Sparks. 😳 Though we’ll know for sure by free agency, I’d assume she approves of Miller being hired as well.

It Carter part of a "winning culture" type environment? I'd say no.
If she’s ever been in a winning culture at the pro level, it’s been a while. (Maybe? her rookie season when Collen was around – but the Dream was still bad that year, so it’s real iffy.)
The Dream needed to trade her for themselves more so than for her; This is not the same situation for her in LA where she & the majority of the team were openly beefin' with each other. Assuming at least the Ogwumikes re-sign, there’ll be talent, experience, and leadership both within the roster and in that HC spot to host an environment that Carter can thrive in. Won’t be much to say if she still can’t meet the moment. And I mean, she’s in the last year of her rookie contract. Sparks under this new regime should really just hang onto her for one more season before the team & maybe whole League writes her off.
At some point, Chennedy Carter needs to grow up and realize that being a team player matters in basketball. Her enormous talent has so far been offset by her inability to function in a group environment, but you never know when (or if) the light will go on.
If Curt Miller can aid in that growth, then Carter could turn into the star her talent predicts, and the Sparks could suddenly be a lot better.
If not, though, I don't know how many more chances she'll get.
That was entertaining! I'd forgotten about the "I'm getting fired because you can't make layups." He connects a lot of dots (Toler being made coach, Toler's firing, her lawsuit, Agler, Cambage, Carter, Miller leaving the Sun)...... It's the perfect conspiracy theory.....Not sure I'm taking it seriously though but thanks for posting it.
