i better not say much about this team, otherwise i might get chewed out again. lmfao. i will say though, i wonder how various parties feel about Tanisha Wright with the season ending the way it did.
The team needs a talent upgrade at the point and some post help.
Wright is fine.
“Wright is fine” no she isn’t. She’s trash. Not taking anyone seriously who thinks she’s a good coach.
Her delusions/obsession with Aari needs to end. Aari stinks! And needs to be traded or let go. The Team was literally doing so good without her. Haley looked amazing at PG. Then Aari unfortunately came back and the slide began and never ended.
Getting rid of D Rob and Aari should be at the top of Dan’s list. Get someone who can share the job with Haley until she’s ready to start permanently.
Mo should’ve been gone years ago. As she’s always been pretty useless on the court outside of 5 good games every season.
Nia did her job. But we need an upgrade at PF.
Someone needs to remind Cheyenne Parker she is a role player. And will always be a role player.
All of the young players not named Rhyne Howard need to be overseas working on their games immediately. Especially the young post players.
It's hard to be a tiny guard in the W ... you have to shoot really well to make up for the lack of size that hurts you at both ends of the floor.
Aari McDonald does not shoot well enough, nor does she handle well enough. It's been three years now -- she's not a first-division point guard.
Danielle Robinson was once a good point guard, but those days are past.
That said, I'm not sure Haley Jones is the answer. She's been "working on her three" since her sophomore year in high school, and she made 21.4% this season. It's possible that she can be a D-Rob kind of player -- they went to the same high school, after all -- given her smarts and skills, but it's really, really difficult to excel when defenders can play a step-and-a-half off you when you have the ball and essentially ignore you when you don't.
Rhyne Howard deserves -- and needs -- a quality point guard. Imagine her playing with prime Sloot. But if the guards can't shoot, help defenders will swarm Howard, and even if they can, the point guard has to have that feel for the game so Howard gets the ball at the right time and in the right spots.
SDS has the skills to complete the picture, but she's on the downside and her attitude issues are well known. If she comes on board and defers to Howard, it could be a perfect match. Natasha Cloud can't shoot consistently either, though at least she's tall.
Hard to see an immediate path to success but maybe the Dream get lucky on a draft pick or Euro and a complementary star emerges.
fwiw, i would take 34 yr-old Skylar Diggins-Smith at supermax salary running my team at the PG spot over 23 yr-old Haley Jones at rookie salary; i don’t necessarily love the idea of either, but i know which one i’d pick.
Diggins-Smith would provide the Dream offense with organization and intention, while also adding needed self-creation and scoring juice from the point guard position. Defensively, she plays with the kind of aggression desired by head coach Tanisha Wright. On top of all that, Diggins-Smith’s attitude—likely turned up to a higher level in 2024 due to how everything unfolded with the Phoenix Mercury—would inject the too-often wayward Dream with the focus needed to win consistently in the W. Atlanta should go to the greatest lengths required, beginning with a supermax offer of $241,984, to try to convince Diggins-Smith to dream big.

Yeah no thanks on Skylar Diggins. Jordin Canada seems to be the focus and would be a great fit for the Dream. And she’s young enough to fit the TL of the team.

Okay Tina sighting, let’s see how she does under former teammate Tanisha. I was hoping the Dream could get a better PF/C to pair with Parker. Ogwumike was my preference but I still dig Charles here.
I’m impressed with Atlanta’s offseason moves. I think Tina will be motivated to prove her doubters wrong after being exiled last year. Canada will continue to RunWithTheDream and be better defensively than Aari and Daron were. Powers hopefully with new scenery will bounce back. Think they are doing a good job surrounding Howard with pieces.

one thing i don’t love for Haley Jones is Coffey being brought back and Powers being brought in. not sure where there’s opportunity for her this year… except other than at PG, of which i’ll never believe she is.
otherwise yeah, good moves made. Tina Charles could be an underrated pickup, especially if she & Cheyenne Parker turn out to be a good starting post tandem.
“I’m incredibly optimistic about us being in a new place, in a bigger place,” Parker said during an interview for the podcast “On Leadership with Atlanta Business Chronicle,” stopping just shy of putting a timeframe on when the team could move from its home at Gateway Arena in College Park.
