If the Mystics take a PG at 6, and if Dallas also takes a backcourt player at 5 (as I am pretty sure they will), I think that means that either Rickea Jackson or Aaliyah Edwards (I'm guessing that Edwards enters the draft) falls to the Lynx at 7. If the Lynx don't add some youth to the backcourt with their first round pick this year, perhaps they reunite Aaliyah and Dorka in the frontcourt in Minnesota.
So the Mystics were 19-21 last year. To drop into serious contention for Paige Bueckers or Rori Harmon, Washington will have to work at being bad this year. And the 2026 draft (Hannah Stuelke, Serah Williams, Ta'Niya Latson) doesn't appear to contain a franchise-changer.
But could Juju come out in 2026? The new CBA might allow it, and tanking for Juju is definitely a long-term plan for success.
JuJu wouldn’t last longer than a full rookie contract with the Mystics before wanting to be traded to a more glamorous team imo.
i’m guessing they’ll do whatever they can to trade up from the #6. that said, i don’t see Indiana, LA, or Chicago being willing to part with their Top-3 pick, and LA’s #4 Pick may be on the same level as the #6 anyway.
Juju probably wants to go to Vegas. By 2026, they might be in a rebuild around Wilson.
wouldn’t everyone like to go to Vegas. i can’t see them ever being in any rebuild mode if they have Wilson.
realistically, it could be Juju’s home base of LA still in rebuild mode by then. hard to say just how bad the Sparks will be in the meantime, but they sure seem likeliest this year to finish dead-last.
i wonder if there’s anything up with Dolson not having signed yet. just feels like the Mystics have one more move to make not related to Dolson [or EDD], which could happen between now & Draft Night.
Someone started a rumor on Twitter that Delle Donne will actually go to New York via a trade. I doubt it happens as it would shake up New York's core.
i certainly thought an EDD-to-NY move was possible before JJ & Stewie actually signed their respective contracts, but not anymore – unless EDD agrees to play for damn near vet min, which seems pretty unlikely.
and besides, i thought she was on her b-ball break. 🙃

From the beginning, Phoenix sought after me. It was intentional and to feel that, after not feeling appreciated or valued for so many years within an organization, was relieving and nice.
Unless they change the rules, Juju won't be eligible for the draft until 2027. But if she's ready in 2026, this team looks to have two really bad years ahead.
