The dislike for Geno -- bordering on hatred -- is understandable, I guess, but he's one of the greatest coaches ever, and as I recall, has had no scandals of any sort, and been a credit to the sport since day one.
I think he's great, I want UConn to do well, and we'll all miss him when he's gone (arrogance and all).
personally speaking, i completely respect his success and how he's gone about it for the most part. once UConn three-peated, i was genuinely rooting for them to make it a four-peat, cuz when would that opportunity actually happen again for any program? and that was back when the "is UConn wbb good for the game?" discourse was all the rage – and incited some rage. 😅
i just think that he's been past his pull date. not even immediately thereafter that fourth title, but once it became clear that the program had come down from that high and turned back into just a regular ole elite program lol. also when he turned 65, i was like, well... is it or is it not time to retire, sir? tick-tock ⏰

As an old guy, I don't want to be forced to retire just because of the year I was born.
that’s fair. i was coming at it as, hey, you’ve accomplished literally the most that a college coach can possibly accomplish. why not ride into the sunset? obviously it’s about how much desire the individual has left – which clearly for Geno is a good amount – but even he wonders nowadays if he should’ve just retired after the four-year run of titles. and now the team’s Final Four streak is over. so i wonder how his headspace will be for this off-season. one thing is, you simply can’t outrun Father Time. no one can. you won’t get an endless amount of time to spend with the family & and truly savor what/those you created.
not too late to ride off into that sunset, is all i’m saying. 🌅

lmao ok so overlooking the B1G FOY in scouting for a Tourney game ...
Geno's is the sorest of losers. Admit you made a mistake! Don't blame it all on your players.
McMahon isn't just some freshman who gets hot from time to time. She's been their second leading scorer in terms of ppg and their offense played through her more and more throughout the season, especially when Sheldon was out. And she was a standout for USA basketball. Give her the credit Geno. She outplayed you. "Someone besides the big name players stepped up." smh
