I'm surprised Villanova don't run pick and pops for Siegrist - that seems like a natural play to run for her. I'm noticing that she's getting repeatedly sealed in the paint by UConn's post players. WNBA interior defense may be a struggle for her.
Lopez Senechal really works hard off the ball - it's impressive. I'm surprised we've only seen her at a Big 6 school in her grad transfer year - she spent four years at tiny Fairfield. She's a borderline WNBA player but she'll be good in Europe.
UConn really stunk it up in the final quarter to make the score look respectable for Villanova. Olsen and Burke - a combined 5/28 from the field for Villanova's top two scoring guards. Ouch. I thought Siegrist did pretty ok, all things considered (third game in 3 days, defensive attention from UConn). The commentators were unbearable - just constantly gushing about the Big East. Yes, UConn have had chronic injury problems (but are still quite talented!). No, Villanova is NOT A TOP 10 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY LMAO. I suppose it's their job to talk up the Big East but a bit of perspective pls. I wish the game was a little closer but congrats to UConn for another trophy.
We were getting blown out by a good team one year, down 15 or so with a couple minutes left. We make some free throws, hit a three and their scrubs turn it over. One of my scrubs hits a three at the buzzer -- we lose by nine.
We go into the seeding meeting and I point out that we lost to that really good team by only single digits. A real indication of how good we are.
