the “no comment” from the Aces organization signals to me they’re still making up their minds on her.
i think it’ll ultimately depend on whether or not her teammates want her back. they seemed to be fine with her presence before. until we hear more, i’d be surprised if we didn’t see her on the court at any one point in the upcoming playoffs.
pilight so just because her ex didn't show up to court, she gets a free ride?
You're suggesting that she should be punished without being proven guilty. If the Players Association had any backbone at all they would fight such a decision.

This is a tough one.
The only reason the charges were dropped is, apparently, that the victim has decided not to testify and/or press charges. Which means that Williams' "guilt" is an open question.
She has a history of issues with violence, and domestic violence has been severely punished in men's sports before trials have even taken place.
So does a women's league look the other way on this when men's leagues are more vigilant? Or does the W follow the letter of the law?
I don't know Williams or her story, but her history -- pulling a gun and offering 18 shots -- makes me give more credence to these charges, and the possibility that she beat up her partner. If I were the Aces and/or WNBA, I would not want her around.
"We're aware of the charges being dropped, but her status with the Aces has not changed," Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon said Friday before the Aces took on the Phoenix Mercury in their penultimate regular-season game. "We will move forward trying to win these next two games and going into the playoffs. As an organization, we condemn domestic violence of any kind. At this time, Riquna Williams will be precluded from participating in team activities. Our thoughts are with the parties involved in this situation."

Per the lawsuit obtained by ESPN and filed last month, Hamby -- who now plays for the Los Angeles Sparks -- alleges in the legal filing to the Nevada Equal Rights Commission and the EEOC that Aces head coach Becky Hammon accused her of signing a two-year extension with the team last year despite knowing she was pregnant. She also alleges that the team "began to retaliate against me and caused the work environment to become unreasonably abusive and hostile" and also encouraged her to avoid getting pregnant "in the next two years."
i mean, certainly we've heard not a single rumbling about any of the current Aces trying to get Hammon fired or even clashing with her at any one point this year. this alleged detail shouldn't really be a surprise; it's been pretty clear to me which side the core of the team took when this all first came to light.
i've been ready for this current iteration of the Aces to break up.
if the Aces even sort of believe this new bombshell allegation from Hamby could theoretically be established in a court of law, then they best get to negotiating a settlement if they know what's good for them.
