I got around to watching the postgame interviews for each team. Maybe her "Princess"-ness was before my time of paying real attention, but to me, Candace Parker gets a bizarre amount of hate/negative attention from... certain corners of wbb internet. Did she run off the court and out of the arena before the clock even hit 0:00? Sure – if that's even supposed to be bad optics, I guess. Did she also later on face the media, when I don't even know if she was required to do so, and answer questions with class & dignity? Hell yeah she did. And I was impressed with James Wade genuinely putting the blame on himself while giving Connecticut their flowers. Really classy, during what was clearly still an emotional time. Those left positive impressions on me.
...Meanwhile, what did Curt Miller say that kinda bothered me? Really it was a couple things. One of them towards the end of the press conference had something to do with him not understanding what exactly DeWanna Bonner is saying sometimes when she's simultaneously hyping up and leading the team since she's the lone vet who's won a ring before, but knowing/trusting that she's saying good things. I was like, are you... lowkey shading how she speaks? Like, idek. Also, after a question was asked about Bonner previously saying she gave an important talk to the team after Game 2's loss, he made it a point to correct that soundbite of hers, saying she really "meant to say Game 3" (which was also a loss) – I think, or vice versa, but it's the same point – and then he proceeded to forget the rest of the question cuz he got lost in the correctness and had to have the question repeated. Idk, it was weird. Like... sometimes it's really just those little tiny things when people put themselves out there and sometimes there are weird albeit seemingly harmless moments, but I guess I grasp at straws and connect my own dots from them anyway lol. You could call him a Problematic Fave™️ of mine at this point... kinda more "problematic" than "fave" tho. 😅 Still rooting for the Sun in the Finals though, it ain't that serious lmfao
