Interesting article. You could tell she wasn’t ready last year and I really didn’t know how she felt she was going to be effective. Wish she could have worked out for us.
Found the Carter comments intriguing as well as the her contacting DC last year after being bought out.
I don’t know what team would be interested in her though.

She seems to have a lot of ideas for life after basketball, but may be a little too scattered. If she is healthy and fit enough perhaps she would be a role player, but that's a big if. I suspect some team will give her a training camp contract.
It seems a little premature to me. After all, Collen and Sienko led the Dream to it's best season ever and were named WNBA COY and EOY after their first season. So you can see how quickly coaches and GM's can go from hero to zero. If they were both on their contract year maybe the Dream had no choice. If not I would have waited to see year 2 went. This year's draft and FA signings are going to be pretty important. Sienko's second go at the Draft and FA signing did not work out well at all for team, though I admit it might have been hard to know in advance that he was building a time bomb instead of a team. Hopefully Padover does better than Sienko.
I agree that it was premature, unless the Dream org. were aware of legitimate offers Wright & Padover were getting from other places and agreed to negotiate extensions with them. Probably not, but who knows.
I don't think I've ever seen a rookie coach who didn't get their team into the playoffs get such a long contract extension.
I like Coach Wright some but she cost us quite a few wins last year with her decision making. Especially the last game against the Liberty.
And for Rhyne to be able to do what she has the potential and talent to do. We need a playmaking PG for one. Who will get her easier shots And a Wing who can score within the flow of the offense and make things easier for her.
I hope McDonald will be given a chance to be the team’s starting PG next year.
I really hope not tbh. She often plays too fast and looks for her shot instead of getting her teammates involved. I think she is the one player on the roster who absolutely needs to be overseas working on her skills.

She’s still young. PGs seem to play differently off the bench than as a starter. They chose McDonald over Carter, so they need to give her that chance imo. She averaged double-figure scoring so there’s clearly something there.

I kinda agree with dreamfan12. Aari is still learning but there is many times that’s I feel like she thinks she’s at Arizona where it’s her team and her spotlight. She needs to adjust still and I think she can.

Same. I think now that she’s had a couple seasons, she’ll be ready to take on more responsibility. Idk if she’ll immediately succeed, but imo she shouldn’t necessarily be expected to right away.
IMO the Dream shouldn’t bring back Wheeler unless it’s at a pay cut, and the team prefers Kristy Wallace play off the ball.

Wallace is playing point guard full time in Australia. She's doing an okay job at it, but I think she's better as a backup ballhandler than being the primary one.
It's going to be interesting to see what Atlanta does at the point guard. Aari McDonald hasn't shown much playmaking chops yet but it doesn't mean she can't develop it. I think it's definitely preferable to play her there at the starter than have Erica Wheeler there again because Atlanta aren't remotely near being a contender yet and you want to see what your young players can (and can't) do. Wheeler's numbers were pretty average last season and she's better suited to a bench role IMO.
I would maybe pass on re-signing Hayes. That #3 Pick shouldn’t be someone who’s slotted to back up Rhyne Howard. That’s when you do what dreamfan12 said by moving Howard to the 2, having the #3 Pick start at the 3, and then you draft a true post (Kitley!) with the #8 – cuz they’re right, Hayes can’t really be counted on to show up on time, end a season with the team, and stay healthy throughout it. I’d be done with her too if I were a loyal Dream fan.

I think Tanisha and Dan should be fired into the sun if they draft either [Joens or Kitley] at number three lol. I think it’s possible Kitley could be there at 8.
If Boston & Miller are off the board first, that still leaves someone like Jones, Jackson, or Horston. I’d pick Horston myself, I like her ceiling a little better than the others at this point.

If Jones is still on the board Jones will be the pick I think. I don’t even think Horston is a lottery pick. I think Jackson is the best player on the VOLS by far but Coach Harper isn’t that great of a coach so she can’t see it. If Jackson is still there at 8. We should run to the podium.
Im at the point where: Hayes, Billings, Coffey and AD all need to go. As well as Beatrice(who we barely even played). We can’t bring back this same group of players. Especially not the ones who get hurt just walking into the arena.
Also Cheyenne is dreadful at Center on defense and she doesn’t have much foot speed either.
